This is really, really excellent. I seem to be lacking the capacity for a more detailed or coherent response ... but I just wanted you to know how I appreciated this piece. Maybe my brain will comply and let me give a proper review later! :)

Coherency is so overrated at the end of the day... or the beginning, for that matter.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and if your thoughts do coalesce into a coherent response, I'd be happy to see what you thought.

Question: what do I have to do to make a link actually work in LJ?

I'm working on my last term paper of the year this weekend (yes!) so will try to find a coherent thought when I'm finished with that. ;)

Links ... I'm not sure why your url isn't converting automatically to a link. It should be. I can only assume that it's because you're an anonymous commenter, and it's maybe a bug in the LJ system? HTML should work; here's the code, if you don't know it already, to create an HTML link:

<a href="URL">TITLE</a>

Sub in your own URL and story title for the capital letters, of course. :)

I wish you every inspiration - I'm on semester system, so we're just getting started with the whole "DRIVE TO SHOW KNOWLEDGE" that is the term paper.

In any event, I do use the formula you've shown here. Perhaps it is part of the LJ code not to let anonymous posters create links. :-S

Well, meh. I'm definitely at a loss then. Stoopid LJ! :)

Thanks for the well wishes! :) Luckily, this one's easy. So easy that I hesitate to call it a term paper. But it's proven challenging to find criticism on the novel I'm researching, which is a pain in the neck.

This was a very interesting story, Dwim. Seeing the thought-process--as it were--of the two young soldiers was both poignant and a little chilling. I was very impressed by the shame in each of them--shame that they failed to kill the other, shame of their weakness. I kept wondering who would break and finally get it over with, and so I loved the openness you gave it. Great job! Thanks!

Good to know that the suspense held - in a situation like that, it shouldn't be obvious how the encounter is going to end. After what they've been through, they're more than a little unhinged.

It was pretty suspenseful for me. I kept going between: Dwim will save the Dunadan... no, she will save the Haradrim, that would be more poignant... no, the Dunadan, since that's the usual POV... no, the Haradrim since that's the unusual POV... when I read the ending, it just made perfect sense. You're such an awesome writer, I love reading everything you write. Thanks for another amazing fic :-)
