"Who?" Compilation Posted

The first compilation for our birthday celebration has been posted! The theme is Who? A Celebration of Minor and Original Characters. We received a lot of entries for this one, so do check it out! There are many excellent pieces collected in this compilation.

Please remember that tomorrow is the deadline for any older works that you would like included for the "Clash of the Titans" theme. New works created for the themes--including the one posted today!--are welcome at any time, and we will add them.

I have to echo that - I really love the layout, from the header picture to the font and the lovely quote. :)

Thank you! :) You all are going to give me a big head. For years, I've styled myself as a web designer who was awful with Photoshop. ;)

The design was actually done around that quote. I found it while reading Letters and knew that it had to be used on the birthday webpage. The rest of the design fell into place around it.

ETA: And for the other font addicts out there (not that that's me *ahem* >.>), the fonts are Clerica in the header and Scriptina on the side section.

I'm not quite that bad yet - though I did spend an afternoon at dafont recently when I discovered that my fonts hadn't made the switch to Windows 7 with me. *g*

Thank you! :) This one might be called "Gund's Adventures in Photoshop." :) It's probably the first time where I spent more time in PS than actually writing the CSS stylesheet.

Thank you! :) Now I would be totally lost with Java or pretty much anything that involves actual programming versus just making things look pretty. ;) I have a (very dusty) copy of PHP and MySQL for Dummies on my bookshelf, but that's as far as I've gotten!

Thank you for letting us post your artwork! :) It's beautiful, and I nurture a soft spot for the whole Aegnor/Andreth subplot. The plotrabbits are kickin' right now!

It's utterly beautiful! The layout is lovely and like everyone else has been saying, I really love the quotation.

One question? Were there no new entries for this day? I have not read every single one yet, but they seem to all be excerpts from already posted work.

Thank you! :) Nope, nothing new for today, except (I think) Lyra's artwork. Pearl's story is new to SWG but has been written for about a year. New pieces will also be listed separately from the compilation in the Table of Contents.

I know some people are working on them and expect they'll start trickling in in a few weeks.

I have new three things I'm working on--one which I sent earlier today for a later Theme.

I also notice you are not limiting people to one older work--I was limiting myself to no more than one excerpt per Theme.

We only guarantee that we will post one per person but, in reality, I try to post as many as I can. That particular rule is more of a CYA to discourage sending 100 excerpts from one author or in case we get 100 excerpts from different authors! (As if!) I didn't post everything that was sent to me--some people sent five or six, so I had to choose from among them--but I tried to choose multiples when they showed different characters or came from different stories. So, if you want to send more than one, by all means, please do! :)

Also, I got the new story! I am so behind in sending acknowledgments of receipt and tokens, it's really kind of sad. Finishing the website and posting all of those excerpts took a lot of time!

This was probably the second-fastest website I've done, too. It's a one-column, and those are always the easiest. Multiple columns tend not to play nice. :)

I meant to ask: Did you want me to archive the new story when I post that day's theme? As the HTML will already be done, it is not a problem to do so, and then you can get comments on it right away.

I got the story--thanks so much! I have to think about where I think it will fit best, but I'm really looking forward to reading it. (I think that when I put these things together, it is the only time I actually read fanfic anymore, for lack of time, not interest!)
