Caught up again, puff puff puff... In which my author's notes get out of hand and are longer than the piece itself:

I updated your passport!

[identity profile] foxrafer.livejournal.com 2011-03-30 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
I have a quick question. I would like to complete most of these but likely won't be finished by the end of the month. I know the daily stamps will be up for a while but I don't know graphics to save my life. *g* Is there an online tutorial that could help me figure out how to add the stamps to the passport myself? I have Photoshop Elements and I'm so graphically challenged even the help menu confounds me a lot of the time because I don't know the terminology so am never sure what to look for. :-)

First of all, I'm happy to continue stamping after March ends. It's pretty easy, and it amuses me to do it. So it's no problem at all. :-)

If you'd rather do it yourself though, I can email you the .psd file of your passport. First, right click on the stamp you'd like and select "save image as" then save it to whatever folder on your computer you'd like.

Then open Photoshop Elements and open both the stamp file and the passport file. Select and copy the stamp, switch to the passport file, and paste. You can then use ctrl + T and then drag the handles to resize if you like, to rotate the stamp, and/or to move it. Once you're happy with the stamp's placement, go to the Layer menu on the top, and select "merge visible". Then you can go to File > Save As and save as a PNG file.

I can give you more detailed instructions and even screencaps if you need them! Just let me know. :-)

I have to say I have very little faith in my ability to make it look nice so I appreciate that you'll be able to continue adding the stamps even after today. Thank you very much!

And thank you for the info about how to do it. I want to learn more about graphics and this was very clear. I was able to play around with a couple of pictures which I'd never been able to do before.
