I have it on good authority that many already signed-up participants in the JingleBells in June Fic Swap are requesting First-Age pairings - I'm urging you all to consider playing - it's a wonderful way to generate new FA stories (well, um, of the slash variety anyway!) Here's the repost of the info - Please consider. There are only a couple of days left.

From the Years of the Trees through the Fourth Age – it’s time once again to make your Tolkien FPS fanfic dreams come true…

Have you always wanted to read a certain pairing or scenario, but couldn’t write it yourself? Or have a plot bunny that’s been rolling around in your mind, but just can’t see yourself writing that particular story?

Have it written for you – specifically and especially for your own sweet self! And share your own fic gift in exchange -

That’s right, it’s time for ‘JingleBells in June 2007,’ the second annual mid-season fiction exchange, brought to your fandom by the same folks who sponsor the renowned Slashy Santa Fiction Exchange.

This year, the exchange will focus solely on the fantasy world of J.R.R. Tolkien. Whether it’s Elves, Men, Valar, Maiar, Hobbits, or Dwarves (or even Orcs!) that strike your fancy – from the First Age to the Fourth – spread the word, recruit your friends and fellow authors, and have some fun!

Sign-ups begin Monday, March 12, 2007 and will close at midnight (GMT-5:00) on Monday, March 26, 2007. All stories will be unveiled on the http://www.geocities.com/slashysanta/ site on Monday, June 25, 2007.

How does a fiction exchange work? It’s simple. Sign up at http://www.geocities.com/slashysanta/signup.html to specify a pairing, rating, and the plot elements you would like to read, as well as the elements you are willing to write, and someone will write a story for you. In exchange, you will write a story for someone else using the specifications they provide. All stories will be submitted directly to the swap coordinators – you will not know whom you are writing for, nor will you know who has your request, until all fiction is posted on the Slashy Santa website.

Even if you don’t want to take part in the exchange, you can still elect to be a reserve writer to be called upon in case of an emergency. Just say so on the signup form.

All we ask is that you adhere to some basic rules – If you sign up, please make sure that you can follow through and write at least 1,200 words. Please note also that this is a SLASH only FPS exchange (no RPS or het, please). Visit http://geocities.com/slashysanta/rules.html for the full set of rules and Frequently Asked Questions.

Here are some important dates to make note of:

**Sign-up period: March 12 - 26
**Assignments to be distributed: by April 9
**Deadline for story submissions: June 4
**Publication Date: June 25

Come check out our site at http://www.geocities.com/slashysanta/ and peruse some of the past entries – they’re terrific and will give you an idea of what’s in store!

Hope to see you there!

Sauron's hold of Númenor tightens and the island moves toward its inevitable and tragic end.

But Sauron caused to be built upon the hill in the midst of the city of the Númenóreans, Armenelos the Golden, a mighty temple; and it was in the form of a circle at the base, and there the walls were fifty feet in thickness, and the width of the base was five hundred feet across the centre, and the walls rose from the ground five hundred feet, and they were crowned with a mighty dome. And that dome was roofed all with silver, and rose glittering in the sun, so that the light of it could be seen afar off; but soon the light was darkened, and the silver became black. For there was an altar of fire in the midst of the temple, and in the topmost of the dome there was a louver, whence there issued a great smoke. And the first fire upon the altar Sauron kindled with the hewn wood of Nimloth, and it crackled and was consumed; but men marvelled at the reek that went up from it, so that the land lay under a cloud for seven days, until slowly it passed into the west.
