Ladies and Gentleman (?), in honour of the ending of my exams for this semester, I proudly present:

The One-Shot Review Exchange

*as shamelessly gacked from fictonalley park.

I tried to explain this in my own terms, and failed, so I shall just steal the post from that particular website:

Here's how it works:
* You offer your fic to the previous (commenter), and in exchange review the story given to you by the next (commenter. In effect, you pick your reviewer.
* One-shots only, of course
* Please point out if you won't read R-rated fics [snip]

So, I will be the 'first poster' who will leave a review to the first person who comments with a link to their one-shot (which can be located on LJ, fanfiction.net, SWG, HASA, etc). Please do not post links to NC-17 stories, as I'm still confused about what LJ's policies on adult content and linking adult content is. (We can always have an adult one-shot exchange at some point in the future... LOL... ack)

Let's say the first commenter is [livejournal.com profile] dawn_felagund. She leaves a link to "Paper". I will follow this link and leave a review.

The next person - let's say, [livejournal.com profile] heartofoshun, would reply directly to [livejournal.com profile] dawn_felagund with a link to one her own one-short stories, e.g. "Full Brothers in Blood". As per the 'rules' of the game, [livejournal.com profile] dawn_felagund will leave a review for this particular story by [livejournal.com profile] heartofoshun.

And the next player will reply to [livejournal.com profile] heartofoshun, carrying on the cascade.

Does this make any sense at all? :S

The point of this exchange, I suppose, is to 1) help other people get feedback, because what author does not like reviews, and 2) get out there, reading fic, and reviewing it. Maybe you'll read something that you don't usually read, and find that you actually like it!

When you do get around to leaving a review - please take the time to leave a comment that is more than just one line (or, eek, one word). It doesn't have to be constructive - but I do ask that you put a bit of thought into it. ;)

That said, please make a note of points of squick, etcetera, in your comments - and please take note of these things when you reply to someone's comment, and be respectful of that. (Please be reasonable and not demanding, however!)

You are allowed to participate more than once, but please allow two more comments between your previous comment and the next one. :) Ideally, you should have comment notifications turned on, so you'll receive comment replies and such.

This will only take off if people participate, so I sincerely hope this isn't too ridiculous an idea. ;) After all, this is the Silmarillion Writers Guild, and feedback is an important part of the writing process, yes? :)

Edit: Clarification on What Construes A One-Shot )
