The April 2013 newsletter has been posted! It is late but worth the wait! We've got a lot of good stuff this month.

http://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/news/april2013.php

It's (Inter)national Poetry Month, and quite coincidentally, much of our newsletter content has coalesced around that theme. (This was purely coincidental, as I don't have the presence of mind at this point to plan that far in the future!) Our podfic this month is really a special one: a recital of the songs found on lost scrolls of humorous Beleriandic poetry. Aiwen has recorded her delightful and humorous "The OTHER Lays of Beleriand" this month, including original music. This fun piece is definitely worth a listen!

Keeping with the theme of long-lost loremasters, Oshun's character biography this month focuses on Rumil of Tirion, a character who is present mostly in his role as the fictional author of The Silmarillion. As one of Tolkien's earliest characters, however, Rumil has an intriguing history, which Oshun explores in this month's biography.

We have a new challenge this month, "Arda Underground." This challenge asks authors to journey off of the main avenues of Arda's cities to write about the lives of those characters who don't make the published histories. We also revisit the "Inspiration" challenge and feature a new quote this month to inspire you.

March is always a busy month for us because of B2MeM, so if you want something to read, check out the list of March stories. We also have lots of news to share, both from within the SWG and without, as well as articles on topics from similarities between the Silm and The Hobbit to how to write good adult fiction.

Enjoy!
