[The newsletter has been out since the beginning of the month, but I forgot to announce it here--my apologies!]
The May 2013 newsletter has been posted:

We have lots of good stuff this month work checking out!
Our Featured Podfic this month is Pandemonium's thought-provoking "Trinity," a long-time favorite of readers on our site and the story that formed the basis of her own verse. Robert Oppenheimer discusses the invention of the atomic bomb with two other scientists from Middle-earth. Pandemonium reads her own story for this month's podfic and provides listeners with additional commentary about the story at the end; I listened to it last night while working on the newsletter and loved it--it's well worth a listen!
Every month with very few exceptions, Oshun writes our character biography. This month, she chose an "obscure" character, Legolas of Gondolin. I expected a few paragraphs citing what little the texts say about him. As always, Oshun has exceeded my expectations! This month's biography asks the intriguing question of what, if any, connection exists between Legolas of Gondolin and that other Legolas, the prince-of-Mirkwood-and-beloved-of-fangirls Legolas. In the process, she unveils many interesting connections that remind readers of the astounding depth of Tolkien's world.
We don't have much news from within the group this month, since most of our mods are chin-deep in real-life obligations, but we do welcome several new members to our site. If your looking for something fannish to do this month, our Around the World and Web section includes links to multiple challenges, projects, and classes to participate in, as well as links to articles about Tolkien and writing. We had quite a number of new works added and updated on the archive last month, including quite a few new poems just in time for Poetry Month, so if you're looking for something to read, visit our story list to check out the new offerings. Finally, we continue our "Arda Underground" challenge and reintroduce "Fanon Inverted," as well as a new quote of the month.
My sincerest thanks go to our newsletter contributors, who have kept the SWG newsletter running for almost eight years now! Thank you Oshun, Pandemonium, and Rhapsody for your contributions this month!
