Believe it or not, we are in the final third of the Season of Writing Dangerously. Time flies! I hope it has been a productive time for participants (or that the realization that the season is almost past will spur those of you who, like me, work best under time pressure. ;)
We need help creating banners and icons for participants, winners, and cheerleaders for the Season of Writing Dangerously. Anyone who wants to do so is welcome to help out.
If you have questions, please comment on this post or email us at moderator@silmarillionwritersguild.org. You can also send finished banners to that address.

- We need banners for winners, participants, and cheerleaders. The banner should make clear which it is for, i.e., "Season of Writing Dangerously Participant," "Season of Writing Dangerously Winner," or "Season of Writing Dangerously Cheerleader." You can change the wording, if you prefer, but please make sure that "Season of Writing Dangerously" or "SOWD" appears somewhere.
- There are no size restrictions on banners but remember that icons used on LJ/DW must be 100x100 pixels or smaller.
- Please save your file as a JPG, GIF, or PNG. If possible, use a save-for-web feature to keep the file sizes small.
- Please avoid sexual nudity, blood and gore, and extreme violence.
- Important!! If you use artwork, photographs, or other images that do not belong to you, they must be in the public domain or licensed for non-commercial use with modification or you must have permission from the copyright holder to use this images. We cannot allow copyright notices, watermarks, or other marks of ownership on the banners, so if this is a condition of using the artwork, we will not be able to accept the banner.
- Also important!! In making banners for this project, you are granting us the right to use your banner, as well as any artwork on the banner. Your banner will be freely available for SOWD participants to use on their personal journals, blogs, profiles, and webpages. We will not remove your banner, nor we will make changes to it at a later date. In other words, if you worry that you'll be grimacing in three-year's time at what you then regard as poor-quality work, give strong consideration as to whether you're willing to share it because we will not change or remove it.
- Although we are a Silmarillion group and most participants are working on Silmarillion-inspired projects, we do have participants working in all eras of Tolkien's world, so banners based on LotR and TH are welcome as well! Most importantly, have fun and be creative!

Date: 2011-09-01 08:58 pm (UTC)In the original description of SOWD, I think you said that participants are allowed to redefine their goals, if they need to or wish to. If anybody should want to do that round about this point, would you expect them to notify you of that?
