Good points on the Dwarves. I think why I find them not being more friendly a bit mysterious is that my reaction would be, "Another sapient species! What's their culture like?" Which… is obviously not a priority for either one, and the differences in culture are probably more of a divide than anything. (And that's ignoring the Petty Dwarves, which is a rather good reason for not being terribly friendly.)
I honestly haven't thought too much about the Dwarves, but I do think there's a psychological difference between them and the Children of Eru.
