Late in October, perhaps as an early start of Halloween, we were attacked by spam-reviewing ghouls. These undead creatures are usually not scary, but rather annoying to SWG members and the mod team. This newsletter gives you some tips as to what to do to report such incidents to keep our site safe and spam-free. We also welcome the five members who have joined our community since our previous newsletter.
This edition features a biography of Voronwë, a Noldorin Elf of Gondolin, and one of Tolkien's early characters. Voronwë 'The Steadfast' is the only mariner to survive from the seven ships sent by Círdan into the West after the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. However, he is much better known as Tuor's travel companion and guide during his journey to the hidden realm of Gondolin.
If you have cravings for new Silmarillion fanfiction, don’t miss this month’s story list, full of lots of quality stories, finished or updated over the last few weeks. Our Around the World and Web section includes links to articles on a variety of topics, from Tolkien’s scribbled maps to Orcs in New York, as well as announcements about fannish events going on in the Tolkien community in the near future, and calls for papers.
If you're looking for something to write, our challenges section may inspire you. This month we continue with the challenge "New Beginnings", and we revisit “Follow the Leader”.
