Thanks for nice comments! I too think of Fingolfin as admiring Feanor despite the quarrels, though actual evidence is hard to pin down. But whatever you think of Feanor there's no doubt he was hugely charismatic. And that 'thou shalt lead' moment always seems important to me as the moment things just might be patched up - if Feanor would meet Fingolfin halfway.
