Btw - this may be a stupid question, but do you want the (non-Silmfic) submissions actually posted over at SWG? As stories (or rather, as chapters of the same story), not just as the links you're doing? I don't think so but wanted to make sure.

Don't worry, I don't believe in stupid questions. :) We'd still like only Silmfic on the archive this month; everywhere else, all writing is fine!

I read your vignette on the HA list today ... wow! This is such a subtly erotic and beautiful piece! I was a Faramir fangirl, you know, when I first got into Tolkien. You all are slowly restoring me to that! ;)

And, funnily enough, my "happy moment" is getting a snowday from the same story that generated your happy moment. Talk about being able to find the silver lining!

No problem in keeping the S in SWG. I thought that would be your preference and fully expected it, but wanted to check to be sure. I kind of wish I was writing more Silm-centric pieces, but I agreed to do a Gondor + Rohan fanfic100 table, and I'm enjoying the opportunity to knock out two commitments with a single writing.

And I'm so glad you liked my piece. "Subtly erotic" is a compliment to any writer and I can't imagine a Faramir piece working any other way, really. Thanks for reading, this and all my others. Not sure if I'll be able to answer your other comments tonight (my energy is falling off a bit), but if I don't, know that I appreciated them.

Statistically, yes, it seems that they are! :D

This was lovely. I loved seeing Arwen breaking convention--though I'd imagine with her wisdom and her knowledge of how short of time she has, convention would be the least of her concerns. :) This was my favorite line:

Their childhood years will swiftly flee as minutes, hours and days go by, and all too soon they will be adults taking up their destined responsibilities, and my arms will be empty of their linden-scented warmth.

Awww ... *huggles wee Elrond* Somehow, calling Maglor "second Father" just seems very Elrond to me. This was lovely, Indy!

He spits on the steps in a final act of defiance. I linger watching him vanish into the distance.

Has Wormtongue truly departed? Will he truly no longer follow me, no longer make my flesh creep when his hand brushes against mine, no longer whisper poisonous words in my uncle’s ear?

Shall I be able to awaken each sunrise without fearing that this might be the day when he determines to make me his bride?

A great weight is lifted from my heart. Yet I cannot rejoice. I have known sorrow for so long I have forgotten what hope is.

Linda, I'm so sorry, I seem to have missed this when you first posted it. I realized this when I got the notification of Nefret's comment below yours. :(

Poor Eowyn ... this is indeed a dark turn for her. It strikes me, though, that it seems really appropriate for this time in the history of M-e, that sorrow should pervade as it does. It's like she can sense the weight that is slowly descending upon M-e ...

Of course, I am comforted in knowing that she does end up with a happy ending! :)

There is no need to apologize; I'm glad you wrote something for it! :) Besides that I got offline right around the time you posted and so didn't get the link added till the next day anyway ... :)

I love the two layers of meaning here: that which Finwe perceives and that which we perceive, as readers who know how it all ends. It makes for a bittersweet combination because, on the one hand, it is the happiest day of Finwe's life. On the other, the unraveling of the Noldor has begun. Great work!

This works really well! The lengthy scene of dialogue at the start was beginning to make me feel chaotic, and the final paragraph is precious! :) Nor do I think mistletoe is a stretch. The tradition had to originate somewhere! ;)
