B2MeM09:: Day Nine: Mercurial Monday!

On Mercurial Mondays, we give B2MeM participants the choice of two prompts. If you're going for the thirty-one-day marathon, if you also write for the second prompt, you can use it in place of any other day's prompt!

Day Nine

Think of a person that you admire. The person can be someone from history, from fiction, or someone that you know--anyone! Write down three to five adjectives that describe why you find that person admirable. Now write the opposites of those three to five adjectives. Write or draw something from the point-of-view of a character who displays some or all of the "negative" adjectives on your second list.

In your opinion, what are the qualities that a hero must possess? Write down at least three of these qualities. Now write a story, poem or create an artwork that shows those qualities in action.

Wow, you managed to work both into one piece! Very impressive! :) And I had to smile at all of the titles and epithets in the opening passages. It reminds me of medieval literature (or The Silmarillion ... ;)

I'm glad you found the prompt inspiring, and I'm glad that you didn't resist. ;) I really enjoyed your ficlet. Glorfindel is a fascinating character (and I had to snicker at your note that he will become more of an arrogant bastard later! ;)

Glorfindel is probably my favourite character, and though I usually portray him as valiant, honest, compassionate and loyal, I also have him flawed by pride and arrogance. Too much virtue in a hero can get boring, too. ;)

Totally agreed! :) This is my fascination with the Feanorians: They are like real people, who had good intentions, and more often than not, really screwed up. ;)

Nice choice with Salgant for this! You make him sympathetic; I get the impression that he is like a rock pushed down the hill. His course is set, and he can't help but to fall. And, again, you capture his character so well in so few words. Very nicely done! :)
