Hi, everyone,
Just a gentle reminder that today, August 7, is the last day to submit ideas for themes and tokens for our birthday event. You will still be able to send in work and award tokens to authors and stories. (If you're wondering what the heck I'm talking about, I'll include a brief explanation at the bottom of the post but will spare the rest of you who have now heard me say the same thing a dozen different ways. :)
We've gotten some excellent new themes and tokens that haven't been updated on the site yet due to the group owner (*ahem*) being busy with various jazz related to school, her job, and her chickens. However, I have mentally set aside tomorrow morning for catching up, so Eru willing and the creek don't rise, I should actually have everything up on the site and emails sent out to those of you who are waiting for them.
If you want to send in an idea for a theme or token, please do so soon! In about a day, I will remove that section of the site. Forms for sending ideas for themes and tokens are on the birthday page:
Suggest a Theme
Suggest a Token
Or you can email me/the moderators directly with your ideas.
Today is also the due date for older work that you would like included in the "Who? A Celebration of Minor and Original Characters" compilation. If you have an older story, essay, poem, or piece of artwork that you'd like included, please send it today or contact me. New work created for this theme is welcome at any time--send it along whenever you're finished and happy with it, and we will add it.
Thanks to everyone who has sent in ideas, work for the compilation, and awards for tokens so far! :)
Dawn
Themes. Each person may send in one idea for a theme. Once you've designed a theme, we will announce it to your fellow SWGers, who will send in their writing and artwork that they think fits the theme. We will then collect it in a compilation.
Tokens. Each person may send in one idea for a token. Tokens are small prizes that are given to stories and authors. Once you create a token, your fellow SWGers can award it to the story or author they think most deserving. We don't count votes or anything like that--it's just an opportunity to show an author that you appreciate her or his work. Authors or stories given tokens receive an icon to display on the story notes or in their profile.

The Power of Evil
The characters are the property of the Tolkien Estate.
They think they have me captured, chained like some tame hound in its kennel.
Now they can rest easy. I, who brought darkness to their light, chaos to their order and discord to their harmony, am helpless. So they think. Fools!
Already, my disciple walks abroad, seeking to turn the hearts of Men and Elves to serve him.
And should he fall; another will rise then another and another until the breaking of the world.
I have a lure that few can resist. Freely, I grant it to my followers.
Evil is everlasting, ever present, you can never conquer me!

Date: 2010-08-07 03:27 am (UTC)If you want it included in the compilation for the Villains theme, just let me know that you grant your permission for that, and we'll do the rest. If you'd like us to add it to the archive when we post the compilation, then we will; that way, you can receive comments on it. But this is your choice; it doesn't have to be on the archive to be included in the compilation.
If you'd like us to link your name to a particular website (a lot of people link to their LJs, for example, or the archive where most of their stories are located), just let me know that too--and that's all I need! :)
So ...
Permission for Compilation: Y/N
Archive: Y/N
Website: optional

Date: 2010-08-07 11:50 am (UTC)I also fired off an idea for a token: 'It's Only a Flesh Wound,' which I thought could basically go to people writing hurt/comfort material in thier fic - but not necessarily the whole focus of the piece, if that makes sense. I submitted that on the website.

Date: 2010-08-07 04:13 pm (UTC)Could you pull an excerpt or two (~300 words) about some of your OCs? And we will link to the full stories on the archive?
