As many of you know, today is the thirty-year anniversary of The Silmarillion's publication. If you're part of this community, you've probably been inspired before by the history and mythology presented in this book, and we invite you to share your talents and win shiny banners!

30th Anniversary of the Silmarillion

Like the subject line says, the Silmarillion is reaching its 30th publication anniversary - 09/15/1977 marks the day it was first published, and now, 30 years later, we need help to celebrate accordingly! Today's the day!

"I would draw some of the great tales in fullness, and leave many only placed in the scheme, and sketched. The cycles should be linked to a majestic whole, and yet leave scope for other minds and hands, wielding paint and music and drama. Absurd."

It's not all that absurd, is it? The fans, here and elsewhere, have made that abundantly clear - and oloriel had the brilliant idea to gather all contributions to this day in one place. For the rest of September, feel free to share all paint, music, drama, and other Silmarillion-related material in 30yearssilm, the Silmarillion Anniversary Celebration community! Your material doesn't have to be new either - whatever you want to post, please do so, and have fun!
