Archive Downtime Tomorrow

Hi, all,

The story archive on the SWG website is in need of a software update, so we will be taking the site down for a few hours tomorrow. Rhapsody will be doing the update and expects to begin at about 6:30 AM GMT. A practice run of the software update took about two hours, so we're hoping to have the site back up by 9:30 AM GMT. We'll keep the group posted if there are any significant changes to this.

Please note that this applies to the archive only. The main site (newsletter, special projects, references) will continue to be available. You will not be able to read stories on the archive or access your account there.

Fantasy Big Bang

Come and join us at the fantasybigbang

...a big bang challenge is when authors and artists come together to work on a (in this case) complete 10,000+ word fic. The authors write the fic over a 3 month period. The artists then claim a fic and do a minimum of one piece of custom art for it (art can range from posters, banners, fanmixes, and fan videos in any still the artist chooses). The fics and art are then posted to the community for everyone to enjoy.

All pairings, fandoms, and fic types are welcome. That includes all fantasy fandoms and original works, and includes crossovers as well. The "technical" definition of fantasy is sort of loose, so we're not going to try to impose a strict guideline here. If there's magic or anything supernatural, go ahead!

The Big Bang is a fairly popular concept across fandoms, although I don't believe we have one here in Tolkien fandom. So perhaps this Big Bang will help 'fill' that niche! It might be a great summer Tolkien fanfic project!
