We have been receiving a rash of anonymous comment spam on this community lately. Most of it is never seen by visitors to those posts, but notifications of the comments has been inundating the inboxes of the original posters. To at least stop email notifications for spam comments, I have (hopefully temporarily) turned on the spam protection setting on this community. I had shut this off earlier this year because it is often overzealous and sometimes marks as spam anonymous comments that are actually legitimate comments.
Since we currently have the re-reading going on, this is not an ideal situation. We very much want everyone to continue to feel welcome to participate whether they have an LJ account or not, and if you leave an anonymous comment and do not see it approved and visible on the post within 24 hours, please contact us to let us know. You can either email our mods at moderator@silmarillionwritersguild.org, or if you'd rather not share your email address, you can use the contact form on my profile on the SWG archive. (Scroll to the bottom of my profile to find the form and, for email address, put in the moderator@silmarillionwritersguild.org address above, if you're not comfortable sharing your email address.) Let us know the post you commented on, and one of us will unlock your comment as soon as possible. Please also keep in mind that you can comment with your logins for many other sites, such as Facebook and Twitter.
We will reassess how things are going in a week or so and, hopefully, be able to shut off the extra layer of spam protection then.
