We have had many newcomers join us in the past few days, and I wanted to welcome all of you and let you know that my door is always open for any questions as you get acquainted with the SWG and Dreamwidth. While I regret the circumstances that have brought us so many new members, I am very glad that you all have chosen to join us! You are all most welcome! :)
We welcome all kinds of content on our Dreamwidth, as long as it is Silmarillion-related (or related to Tolkien/Middle-earth as a whole). This is also a space where you will find official announcements from our mod team.
We also have a website with our own
fiction archive. We welcome fanfic readers and writers to join us there to share their work and comment on the work of others. If you join, please help us out by putting something Tolkien-related in your bio. We screen all new registrations, not to make sure you're "Tolkien enough" but to keep out spammers.
We run a monthly challenge. Our current challenge, Holiday Feast--which offers a menu of prompts small and large, perfect for keeping connected with the Tolkien community no matter what the holiday season throws your way--along with thirteen years of past challenge prompts can be found on our
challenge page.
We also have a
monthly newsletter that features the well-loved character bios, as well as roundups of news, links, and announcements from within the SWG and the larger Tolkien community.
Finally, I cannot resist mentioning my pet project,
our reference library, where we collect peer-reviewed and reprinted references on a variety of topics.
