Temporarily Going to Moderated Posts ...

Until LJ gets their current spam problem under control, I am setting the community temporarily to moderated posts. All legit posts will be approved as quickly as possible by a mod. Sorry for the inconvenience, all, but I won't be home for a lot of today and don't want our community (and your flists!) spammed.

I've been reporting any bots all day, and the first account already got suspended. What a bother, tough!

I've been reporting them too, and it seems to have slowed down again--at the moment, anyway. It had slowed down too right before I put my open comms on moderated status and then we got another burst of spam. I had this horrible vision of coming home to 50 spam posts to delete and people leaving the comm in droves ...

Having so many spamposts to delete is a daunting task, of course, but I'm absolutely sure comm members will be more patient than leaving at such an event! *hugs* I have heard repeatedly that people are frustrated about abandoned comms because nobody takes care of spam there, but they usually discuss what to do to keep the comm living.

Strangely enough, the spammers seem to ignore some of my very quiet comms :D But I also reported our influx of member requests of other comms to LJ support, maybe that is useful for them as well :)

I have a feeling they were going for active comms, maybe from the comm ranking the LJ maintains. None of my inactive comms was hit either.
