December 2015 Newsletter
Dec. 2nd, 2015 11:11 pmThe December edition of the SWG newsletter is now available on our website.

We welcome six new members to the SWG during November. We also bring you news of some unwelcome guests. In October we had spamming ghouls, and this month we encountered plagiarists in our archive. Please read the summary of the events in this edition of the newsletter, and remember to report any suspicious behaviour to our mod team.
This edition features a biography of Arien, by Silver Trails. Arien was the Maia who guided the vessel that contained Laurelin’s last fruit. As it's often the case with Tolkien's characters, her named changed, and her role, story, and fate evolved along with the tale of the Sun and the Moon.
If you wish to read something new during December, don’t miss this month’s New at the Archive collection, crammed with quality stories and poems, finished or updated over the last few weeks. Our Around the World and Web section includes links to articles on a variety of topics, from a scientific simulation of Middle-earths’ climate to elections at the Organization for Transformative Works. In this section you will also find announcements about many events going on in the Tolkien fandom and beyond over the next few weeks.
Struggling to find plot-bunnies? Our challenges section may inspire you. This month we continue with the challenge "New Beginnings", and we revisit “A Gift of a Story”. We also provide you with a new quote.
Thank you to our newsletter contributors this month—Angelica, Rhapsody, Elleth, and Silver Trails—who wrote and gathered a wealth of wonderful content for this edition.
We hope you enjoy this month’s newsletter, and will see you again in 2016!
