The August edition of the SWG newsletter has been posted on our website!

We have lots of news to report this month, including a last call to participate in a SWG user survey to help us focus on the right improvements for our SWG community, a wrap up of the Femslash Bingo project, a report on the presentations by heartofoshun and dawn_felagund at the NY Tolkien Conference, and our yearly visit to Númenor for Akallabêth in August. We also welcome three new members to our site.
This month’s character biography is Radagast, by heartofoshun. Radagast the Brown, 'Lover of Birds', is one of the Istari (Wizards) who were sent from Aman to assist the peoples of Middle-earth in their struggle against Sauron. If you watched The Hobbit movies, you either hated or loved him, bird droppings in his hair, bunny sledge, and all. In this article Oshun explores the Radagast described by Tolkien, as well as the quest he may have been sent to Middle-earth to perform.

If you're looking for something to read, you are in for a treat this month. As well as the usual selection of works completed or updated during July, this newsletter lists all Akallabêth in August works completed during the last 12 months, as well as links to all Femslash Bingo works whose authors opted to be included in our newsletter. Around the World and Web is crammed with featured articles and publications about all aspects of the Tolkien legendarium and fandom, from the Lay of Aotrou and Itroun to further details about the NY Tolkien Conference.
