March 2017 Newsletter Posted!
Mar. 3rd, 2017 09:15 pmThe SWG's March 2017 Newsletter has been posted!
Back to Middle-earth Month is here once more, running from 1st to 31st March 2017. The theme for this year is “Night and Day”, which presents prompts and challenges on a gameboard format. In our newsletter you will find all the details and links to the rules, participant banners and icons, and to the B2MeM mod team who have worked behind the scenes to plan and develop this event.
On the 15th February we launched our current challenge “Revolution!” under the new Challenges format. Participants receive a quotation, artwork, speech or song concerned with protest and revolution. If you want to take part, please head to our newsletter where you will find more information about this prompt and our new Challenges guidelines.
For the character biography this month, Oshun writes about Silmariën, the eldest child of the fourth king of Númenor. Born before women could hold the scepter, Silmariën receives little attention from Tolkien, but she links the Númenórean royal house back into the First Age and prior and forward even as far as the reign of Aragorn in the Fourth Age.
If you're looking for something new to read, over forty stories and poems were added or updated on our archive during the past month of February. Additionally, our “Around the World and Web” section includes recent articles of interest, fandom events, and calls for papers.
As always, many hands and minds go into making our newsletter possible. Thanks this month go to Oshun, Elleth, Rhapsody, Dawn, and Angelica for creating and compiling our newsletter content.
