Date: 2018-01-06 08:00 am (UTC)She seems to associate Finduilas strongly with light, doesn't she?
The one with Turin also succeeds in capturing so much: the distance between them, the way she turns to him in sympathy and longing, the way he is too self-involved and shadowed to reciprocate. The setting suggests they are simultaneously caged and exposed. I hadn't thought it before, but I realize now that might actually be the fatal bridge they are both on, not just some kind of balcony. And the theme of the carvings in the foreground foreshadows the fall of Nargothrond.
