Between March 2009 and February 2011, the SWG posted Linguistic Foolery by Darth Fingon. Besides writing stories with an original and inventive twist, Darth contributed to our Reference section with these linguistic essays where he focused on the words that Tolkien invented for his Elvish languages. Studying their development through the years from The Book of Lost Tales to The People of Middle-earth, he built his research on the idea that these words can give us clues as to what the culture of the characters who spoke these languages was like.

Date: 2018-01-21 09:48 am (UTC)I looked at a couple again and they really are so good and useful.
I was also reminded how much I loved that story about Maeglin and Glorfindel under a peach tree with a tarp and a gaggle of flautists!
