Are you looking for stories to read? Prompts to trigger your muses? Why not go Back to Middle-earth?
"Back to Middle-earth Month" is one of the Tolkien fandom's oldest events. It started in March 2006 in order to keep the fandom involved after the release of the final Lord of the Rings movie and has been held every years since. It has taken many formats and covered many themes but on the whole it consists of challenges for writers and artists to create fanworks based on The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion.
The SWG has been involved in its organization and development since its inception either as one of several groups that participated or as main organizer together with Many Paths To Tread.
In our Special Projects section you can find what we did in those days:
In 2008 The Circles of the World considered the many different events that take place on Arda in the context of what inspires fans.
In 2009 we challenged our authors and artists with a daily prompt to take their creativity in new directions.
In 2010 The Last Battle was a quest game writing challenge to determine the fate of the world during the Dagor Dagorath.
In 2011 with Passport to Middle-earth we embarked on a tour that stopped in a different location in Middle-earth each day and, with each stop, came a new challenge to tempt the muses.
In 2012 to honor the 75th anniversary of The Hobbit we organized Bilbo Baggins' BINGO Bash! . Don't miss the marvelous 105 bingo cards created by our members. They're bound to inspire even the most reluctant muses.

If you like the idea, why not participate this year in 2018 Back to Middle-earth: Music of the Waters?
