Admin Post: April 2019 Challenge: Sirens and Songstresses

This month, in honor of Legendarium Ladies April, prompts will be a song by a female artist or a band with a female lead. You can use any part of the prompt that inspires you - the mood, (part of) the lyrics, visuals from the video or whatever else works for you. While we encourage participants to celebrate LLA with a fanwork featuring a major female character, this is not required. If you are using the SWG challenge alongside LLA, please make mention in your story notes so that we can award you the appropriate stamps.

April is also Poetry Month, so as always, we encourage poetry or fanworks that include poems as challenge entries.

To request a prompt, comment here, comment on our LiveJournal, send an ask on Tumblr, or email us at moderator@silmarillionwritersguild.org.

Fanworks must be submitted by May 10 in order to be eligible for stamps. As always, late fanworks are welcome but do not receive stamps. See the full challenge guidelines on our website for more information.

OMG! I love that song. I used it in a Feanor/Nerdanel story--in fact, I even used the title: First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.

I wouldn't mind another one. But it seems wrong! This is why I hate prompts. I can think of a dozen songs to use! I should let this one pass, I think. I was already cheating in my heart anyway. I actually chose a character bio and wanted to try to make something work with it. I chose Tar-Vanimeldë the third Ruling Queen--"she gave little heed to ruling, loving rather music and dance." Nevermind me, a black-hearted cheater, who never saw a challenge prompt she liked!

And, yes, yours was an awesome,e prompt this time. Because you know me so well. I just happened to have already used it less than two years ago. I got a huge kick out of that fact though. Thanks! Sorry I am so difficult. I'll get joy out of the bio without a stamp!
