February 2020 Newsletter Posted!
Feb. 5th, 2020 07:58 pmOur February newsletter has been posted!
We are beginning this month's newsletter with a sad announcement: The Tolkien fandom mourns the passing of Christopher Tolkien, son of J.R.R. and Edith Tolkien. He lived to be 95 years old and passed away on January 16, 2020 in his hometown of Draguignan, in southern France. Read his obituary in our News section.
As we start a fresh year, we invite our members and friends to recommit to their creative life. However, instead of making a pledge that extends into the unforeseeable future--a resolution almost certainly broken--we challenge you to take a single step in the present moment by participating in our New Year's Resolution challenge.
The mod team extends a warm welcome to our three latest joiners, who signed up during January and the first day in February.
The second part of Oshun's three-part biography of Lúthien Tinúviel continues her epic journey as Tolkien's most courageous heroine, flouting some key fairytale tropes as she goes.
Find a list of all the fanworks that were updated or newly posted to the archive in the New at the Archive section of the newsletter. Around the World and Web presents you with a large compilation of articles of interest from the Tolkien fandom and the fandom world at large, as well as challenges, fandom events, conferences, calls for papers, and more.
Many thanks to Elleth, Dawn, Oshun and Angelica for their work to make this month's newsletter possible!
