April 21 Block Party Prompt: Tuesday Try!

Today is Tuesday Try, where if you’re feeling bold, you can push yourself beyond your current boundaries as a creator and Tolkien fan. Today’s prompt:

Try your hand at a form of fanwork you have not done before.

This can be absolutely anything! A poem, a filk, a closet cosplay, a craft, a drabble, a sketch--if you’ve wanted to try it, consider giving it a go!

I want a stamp for pushing myself beyond my "current boundaries as a creator and Tolkien fan" because I am still waking up every day and reading these suggested prompts in the middle of the city with the highest numbers of Covid19 cases in the world. Just kidding! Such a Debbie Downer! I really love so many of these prompts. Started one. Might still finish it. Been reading and leaving comments. I should try to draw something. I use to draw fairy story scenarios like a maniac when I was in grade school. Wasn't half bad either!

Hey, if you're reading and leaving comments because of the prompts, then you've earned your stamp! We intentionally offered different points of entry to this month's challenge because of everything going on and because we were all hearing so many creators lamenting that their inspiration had dried up in the middle of what they hoped would be a time when they could get some writing done. Considering that, offering one of our usual challenges that requires at least a fanwork of publishable quality seemed a big ask. Hence this! Hopefully the only occasion we will ever have for needing to offer a prompt where you can get a stamp for sitting on the couch in PJs, reading Tolkien and eating a giant bowl of ice cream! :D

Anyway, it sounds to me like you've earned the stamp, so I'll note that for you. ;)

So popping up briefly to say that as someone who can write in the midst of all this (because I can get lost in my own world), but is only managing to read and comment on like one short fic every blue moon (because concentrating on other people’s works is hard when all I want to do is curl up with things where I already know exactly what will happen and there are no surprises), I deeply applaud you commenting on fics!

I'd like to trade you for a few days! I really need an outlet. Too much bottled up inside! And the reading doesn't go so well either--if I read something I like it makes me cry and if I read something I dislike I cry harder.
