First of the poems from the Poetry Meme.

[personal profile] enismirdal asked for: "something based around the first meeting of Denethor of the Nandor and Elu Thingol, after Denethor led his people over the mountains" It was an interesting challange and I hope you are happy with the result.

Flight to Doriath

A legend he was, a hero of lore
Elwe who traveled to light
In the years since we strayed
From his guiding hand
We never forgot his name
And now as we walk
under shading trees
Guided by Elwe’s kin
We wonder how tall the trees has grown
untouched by fire and war
The lady, they say,
Our guides in the woods
Will welcome us into her arms
And their lord
He will keep us safe
Weary we stumble
through glen and wood
On moss and on grass
We will sleep for a while
Laying our troubles to rest.
We fled our home
When the enemy came,
With fire and wolf and death
Crossing mountains and rivers and plains
Never ceasing our journey for long.
He stands as tall, as a proud oak
This lord over forest and glen
His journey to light
Had come to a halt
And this was the home he had made.
We bend or heads
We bend our knees
Our proud unfettered race
Fealty sworn in oaths of blood
And we are now
Like them.

She also asked for a poem about one of our original characters and specified wanting Brannon, estranged husband to Ravo.

Enchanter and Fool

I saw a prince, in years gone by
A star among the thorns
And he caught my heart and held me close
Enchanter and Fool.

In years that passed I stood by him
When he stumbled and he fell
I raised him up and I stayed true
Through hardship and through hope

But joy has turned to spider webs
Of cloying, clutching need.
With open eyes he chose his path
And all forgiveness fled.

Yet fool am I still standing here
Still watching from afar
Torn apart from love and hate
And no where left to go.

I saw a prince in years gone by
A star among the thorns
And he caught my heart and played me false
Enchanter and Fool.
