I have to agree with the masses that "are we there yet?" Fingolfin was hilarious! Though, again, you've outdone yourself. All those little elflings are precious. Is Feanor wearing overalls? Or a tube top? I'd never considered Feanor in overalls before, but my Feanor would rock it (and, he adds, make it look good! :D) I refuse to contemplate the tube top ...

Hehe. That was totally unexpected actually--I was channelling "Donkey" in Shrek there. (I'm evil I know). Feany was not wearing a tube top (your remark made me laugh so hard). I dare not tempt him further since he already has given me an extra-ordinary amount of liberty in allowing me to make fun of his family, not to mention turning him into a libidinous carnivorous plant and THEN as a fashion designer.

The chibi was wearing overralls though strands of his hair and the chibi!Carnistir hid the straps. Now he's demanding that I set the record straight to show it, he said that he took to wearing overalls to suck up to his father-in-law. Here it is (with trembling hands, hihihi):

I figured it was overalls. But, knowing you, I wasn't sure. Also, I figured the thought of the Feanster in a tube top would be to your liking.

But, the thing is, I can totally see Feanor in overalls! My dirty, not-all-that-fond-of-bathing-(unless-with-Nerdanel) Feanor, that is. (What is it with me and characters with poor personal hygiene?? Another favored muse from my o-fic universe is also unfond of baths.)

You know, my Feanor muse was really and truly evil to me for a long time. He corrupted disks and erased files and so on. How did I tame him?

I slashed him with Erestor.

Marta, as I noted on the HA list, I think this is such an excellent vignette. I've often thought the same of Feanor (as you know), but had never expressed this thought as eloquently as you did with this story. (The one time I tried to explain it to someone, she completely misunderstood it and snarked at me! o.O)

And I must confess that your footnotes include references to Hume's philosophy and Star Trek DS9. :D

Second Chances

Eldarion runs to his father who scoops him into his arms, both their faces alight with happiness.
Sometimes, when I see Eldarion with his father, I feel a pang of envy. If only my father could have looked on me with such love, or played with me, as the King plays with his son.
Then I cast dark thoughts aside, and thank the Valar for my lady, the children she has given me, and the one who is now as a father to me. My sire decreed my death by fire; my King restored my life and I was reborn.

Hi, Raksha, sorry for taking so long to reply, but LJ is off-limits at work, and it was one of Those Days (tm) so kept me from getting to my "real job" ;) till now.

All you need to do to be added to the list on the website is get a link to me somehow. You can post it here or email me privately or post to the HA list, which I've been watching closely for links that aren't being posted here. That's all! :) You don't need to link to us or do anything special.

Banners are all up on the website here, or we're posting each day's banner on LJ. You can copy the code from either place; it is the same.

If you want to post on LJ but don't feel like wrangling with the LJ-cut codes and such, we have the code up on our LJ profile; just scroll down to the Posting Format section, copy and paste the code there, fill in your information wherever you see capital letters, and click POST! :)

And no worries about responding every day; some people enjoy the challenge of writing lots at once and others don't ... or just can't! (I understand the latter, especially! ;) However you want to do the challenge is fine with us; the larger goal is just to get people writing or creating, hopefully getting to write, draw, or read new things. :)

I agree! Haleth is definitely one of the most awesome female characters in JRRT's books. She gets to do cool stuff, doesn't have to regret it (*cough* Eowyn! *coughcoughcough*), doesn't get punished (*sly look at Aredhel*), and doesn't function as a cautionary tale (Nah, not talking about you, Galadriel! Course not.)

I love the line in this piece about the tempest and the butterfly. It's a beautiful metaphor to illustrate your point! :)
