March 18: Wilderland

View the unspoiled wetlands of the Midgewater Marshes! Stay at the Forsaken Inn, only a day’s journey from Bree! Catch the view from the top of historic Amon Sûl! Visit the site of the Three Trolls—amazingly lifelike statues only a few leagues from the Great East Road!

Today's Challenge:
There is no beautifier of complexion, or form, or behavior, like the wish to scatter joy and not pain around us. 'Tis good to give a stranger a meal, or a night's lodging. 'Tis better to be hospitable to his good meaning and thought, and give courage to a companion. We must be as courteous to a man as we are to a picture, which we are willing to give the advantage of a good light.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

The act of kindness or hospitability usually comes from a generous heart. Write a story or poem, or create a piece of art where your character displays this virtue.

LOL - my favorite song by my favorite Irish group. I'll be writing to High Kings while I compose for this day. Count me in (of course).

One of the beset thing about the Sherlock Holmes movie a year or so ago was having "Dublin" playing in the background of the fighting arena sequence. It wasn't the High Kings, but it was pretty good.

I saw the High Kings in concert last year at Irish Fair and they'll be back again this summer. I'm not going to my cousin's daughter's wedding because I would miss the concert. I'm a devoted fan :-)

Day 17 is in the bag...working on Day 18...

Day 18: Plight

Plight

Watching the guards leave her farm, Eleniel understood her foolishness. Blood made not a man, except here in Gondor, she'd found; now those she'd sheltered could die for her mistake.

"What now, Haldor? How can I dismiss everybody, or keep them?"

"We might all be dead either way for being North-friends, lady. Mobsters like those listen to no reason."

Taking a stand took courage; a greater test was doing the right thing. "Sell what we can, quietly; divide the money among the workers. Let Gondorians return to their families' homesteads; we'll help the rest reach Rhovanion before it's too late."
