"to bugger someone silly"--interesting addition to the hypothetical Quenya phrasebook. Now, where has the perfect Maitimo picked that up and would Feanaro approve of such sloppy language? I notice also that Findekano seems to have no trouble understanding him...

Knowing Feanaro's love of languages and word-smithing, I can't help but wonder he'd made it up himself. (It's been a while since I took a look at Darth Fingon's Linguistic Foolery essay but I remember that relevant terms exist for for that sort of thing. My interests, as always, tend towards the prurient.) And of course when Maitimo learns a new word, certain he would certainly share with his good friend, Findekano...

Oh, I wouldn't put it past Feanaro to invent the verb; I just don't quite see him combining it in a phrase with "silly".
In the interest of linguistic research, I checked Darth Fingon's essay. "Coitus", "hermaphrodite" and "ravish", all present and correct, but the verb in question is sadly missing.

Maybe the "silly" part is Maitimo's special touch. And now it is my sincere hope that someone with greater knowledge in Quenya than me (that is to say, any) will invent the verb "to bugger", because obviously there's a yawning -- even aching need for it.
