Summary: I'd imagine that when Túrin was young and still learning the ways of the sword, he would get constantly beaten up by orcs because of his reckless nature, and Beleg would always have to save his ass :---D
Why I enjoyed it (optional): This one is cute and funny. Other drawings by remonpop of Turin also strongly recommended.
Title: Doriath. Beleg and young Turin, by ekukanova
Type of Fanwork: Painting
Summary: Illustration for the Children of Hurin by Tolkien
Why I enjoyed it (optional): One of a cycle of illustrations, all wonderful, but this might be my favourite

Date: 2014-10-05 04:41 pm (UTC)Title: Watching the Dance by Lyra (http://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/archive/home/viewstory.php?sid=1079)
Type of Fanwork: Fanficlet
Length (if applicable): 1741 words
Rating: Gen
Warnings: Dubious Sindarin name-constructions
Summary: Out in the woods during a thunderstorm, young Túrin makes a new friend.
Why I enjoyed it (optional): I admit that I'm unreasonably proud of having a fic that involves Túrin... in which nobody is killed or injured, and the doom!level is generally quite low. ;)
And now something to get us in the proper mood for this chapter again:
Title: Doombound by Toradh (http://toradh.deviantart.com/art/Doombound-472362901)
Type of Fanwork: Fanart
Length (if applicable): n/a
Rating: Gen
Warnings: n/a
Summary: Túrin. With Gurthang. In the rain.
Why I enjoyed it (optional): It's so over-the-top doomy-gloomy, it could be a CD cover. Also, nice armour design.

Type of Fanwork: Fiction

Rating: Adult
Warnings: sexual content, m/m
Summary: Wounded and suffering from battle fatigue, Mablung sees a strange portent that causes him to fear that his beloved friend Beleg's affection for Túrin, the self-exiled young warrior, could bring grief to them all. Written for Tehta in My Slashy Valentine fic swap 2013
Title: Heart of the Wood by Kenaz (http://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/archive/home/viewstory.php?sid=262)
Type of Fanwork: Fiction
Length (if applicable): 7684 words
Rating: Teens
Warnings: Sexual content, mild
Summary: " ...And Beleg and Túrin were companions in every peril, and walked far and wide in the wild woods together." Six vignettes of Beleg and Túrin, on the marches of Doriath and beyond.
Why I enjoyed it (optional): Gorgeous writing, evocative scenes, true emotion. One of my favorite fics.
Title: Character of the month bio: Beleg by Oshun (http://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/reference/characterofthemonth/beleg.php")
Type of Fanwork: Essay
Length (if applicable):
Rating: Gen
Why I enjoyed it (optional): Oshun always does a great job with character bios. This one about Beleg, Túrin’s friend and mentor, is a great place to start if writing a story about Túrin.
Title: In the Wild Woods Together by Adlanth (http://slashysanta.com/eFiction/viewstory.php?sid=427)
Type of Fanwork: Fiction
Length (if applicable): 13,764
Rating: Adult
Warnings: Sexual content, m/m
Summary: Beleg always seeks Túrin, against his own wisdom: among the outlaws, and later on Amon Rûdh.
Why I enjoyed it (optional): Strong characterizations. This could easily have been lifted right out of the pages of Children of Hurin, filling in the gaps with vividness, passion, and warmth.
Hopefully, the links work this time.

Date: 2014-10-13 02:09 am (UTC)Type of Fanwork: Fiction: Humor
Length (if applicable): 4,062
Rating: T
Warnings: Nothing applicable.
Summary: Some say that character is fate. This is certainly true for Beleg, whose single-minded focus leads him straight to his Doom. Slashy, ridiculous.
Why I enjoyed it (optional): At the time I first read it, the market was flooded with angsty "alas, poor Beleg" unrequited love fics and this was a refreshing departure. And written with Tehta's special brand of humor.

Date: 2014-10-13 02:37 am (UTC)Type of Fanwork: Fiction - Romance/tragedy
Length (if applicable): 8,387
Rating: M
Summary: The story of Beleg and Turin, reinterpreted as a bittersweet romance. Stays close to the Unfinished Tales version of the story. Homoerotic content, but no explicit sex. 2nd place in the 2006 MEFA Romance General category.
Why I enjoyed it (optional): My ff.net review written in 2006: "The style of writing in this piece is simple and fits perfectly with this story, which is lovely, sad, but not without hope. The tale itself is a believable rendering, from Beleg's point of view, of the story Beleg and Túrin. The author taken a familiar story, added new elements and fresh detail and subsequently raised it a whole new level of pathos, without making it at all grim. The characters, as developed here, are canon consistent. While I had never read the tale of Beleg and Túrin in quite this way, I will never again be able to read it without thinking of how perfectly this rendition fits within the confines of it. The heartbreaking, bittersweet love story and its tragic denouement does, however, not leave one wanting to run off and shoot oneself in the head, but actually is satisfying and emotionally fulfilling."
