Title: Beleg and Túrin by Raihon (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2946889/1/Beleg-and-T%C3%BArin)
Type of Fanwork: Fiction - Romance/tragedy
Length (if applicable): 8,387
Rating: M
Summary: The story of Beleg and Turin, reinterpreted as a bittersweet romance. Stays close to the Unfinished Tales version of the story. Homoerotic content, but no explicit sex. 2nd place in the 2006 MEFA Romance General category.
Why I enjoyed it (optional): My ff.net review written in 2006: "The style of writing in this piece is simple and fits perfectly with this story, which is lovely, sad, but not without hope. The tale itself is a believable rendering, from Beleg's point of view, of the story Beleg and Túrin. The author taken a familiar story, added new elements and fresh detail and subsequently raised it a whole new level of pathos, without making it at all grim. The characters, as developed here, are canon consistent. While I had never read the tale of Beleg and Túrin in quite this way, I will never again be able to read it without thinking of how perfectly this rendition fits within the confines of it. The heartbreaking, bittersweet love story and its tragic denouement does, however, not leave one wanting to run off and shoot oneself in the head, but actually is satisfying and emotionally fulfilling."
