Our Around the Fire challenge continues this month, so if you're looking for inspiration, do check out some of the great requests we've received so far (many of which are still orphans and looking for an author, just saying ...) This month's character biography is on Guilin. A relatively minor character, Guilin nonetheless embodies the tragedy that defined the Noldor of the First Age. Oshun makes the case not only for his heritage as a Noldorin noble but also a tragic figure in line with Turin.
August was a relatively light month on the archive, but we do have some new and updated stories, as well as several fascinating articles of interest, if you're looking for something to read. If you're looking for a writing challenge, Around the Fire runs for one more month, and we revisit With a Touch of Fairy Dust, in which you drop a Tolkien character into a fairy tale. Several other events are running now in the Tolkien fandom, from writing challenges to conferences.
