Admin Post: Stories Written for the "Ancestors" Challenge
Oct. 14th, 2017 02:40 pm
Our last challenge closed two days ago (and our next challenge will be announced tomorrow!) and we had ten stories written. If you haven't read them already, check them out and please let the author know if you like what you read! As always, links go to the Table of Contents where you can view more information about the story.
Amon-sûl by hennethgalad. After learning his true name from Elrond, Aragorn rides to Amon-sûl with Glorfindel.
Ashes of the Past by Lyra. On the eve of her wedding, a young Sinda makes a shocking discovery about her family history.
Fewer Words, Without Song by IgnobleBard. The story of Beren and Lúthien told as a fairy tale.
Finwë’s Nose by oshun. Celebrían goes into labor. Galadriel is there to help. (Don't worry no graphic childbirth details here.) Crack fic.
The Flight of the Birds by grey_gazania. Elrond and Elros have recently arrived on Balar, and Elrond is not happy to be back among his mother's people. But with some help from his brother, he begins to see Elwing in a different light.
Meeting the Tatyar by Silver Trails. Amrod and Amras meet the few Tatyar that stayed in Middle-earth.
A Parting of the Ways by Grundy. Elros sets sail for the new land promised to Men in the morning. But he'd like to talk to his brother before he leaves.
The Promise by Tyelca. Young Fëanor has nightmares. Finwë offers comfort to his only son.
Their Uncle's Children by LadyBrooke. Maedhros looks at the sleeping twins and says they look like their great-grandfather. Maglor knows Maedhros thinks Elrond and Elros look like someone else, as well.
The Witnesses by Himring. Aragorn is told about his ancestors by those who saw them with their own eyes.
Housekeeping Stuff: A.k.a, an update on stamps ... I am dreadfully behind, as is abundant to anyone who wrote for or commented on our last challenge, "Song of Exile," and still has not received your stamps. I can only offer reassurance at this point that I am almost out of the weeds in which my life has been entangled since the end of August. (In addition to the Silmarillion40, the start of the school year and having to take two classes to keep my teaching license has left me with just enough spare time to preserve shreds of my sanity. Seriously, if this schedule went on for even one more month, I don't know if I'd even have that.) It is tops of my list to get stamp collections caught up as soon as I can, hopefully within the next two weeks (my last class ends in a week and a half). I can only offer apologies in the meantime and thank everyone yet again for your patience with me.

Date: 2017-10-15 12:13 pm (UTC)We really appreciate that you're managing to keep running all this with all the rest going on. No need at all to worry about the stamps, we can certainly wait for those until you're ready!
Take care and I hope the next two weeks go well for you!

Date: 2017-10-15 02:37 pm (UTC)I'm usually pretty good about making things work, but there literally have not been enough hours in the day. The 40th anniversary of the Silm couldn't have come at a worse time! :) Someone mentioned that it was published in September to capture the back-to-school audience in England at the time. Unfortunately, that meant that it captured the back-to-school chaos for me as well! Anyway, neither my work obligations nor the timing of the 40th anniversary could be changed, unfortunately--I'm so grateful for the understanding and patience I've received.
