December 2017 Newsletter Posted!
Dec. 2nd, 2017 07:41 pmThe SWG's December 2017 Newsletter has been posted on our website!
This month we bring you a special announcement about one of our members, and we welcome six new joiners to our SWG archive. The last challenge of 2017 prompts you to choose a character and complete prompts and activities designed to develop a deeper understanding of that character. All participants will receive a creator stamp, regardless of how many prompts they complete until 10 January 2018.
Silver Trails is the author of this month’s biography of Tirion. The "Tale of the Sun and the Moon" is one of Tolkien's oldest and most fanciful stories. In this month's biography, Silver Trails looks at the lengthy textual history of Tilion, Tilion's inextricable linkage to the story of Arien, and the story's meaning as a chapter in Tolkien's broader theme of the cyclical loss and rekindling of light.
If you are craving for something new to read, the “New at the Archive” section lists all the stories, essays, and poems added to or updated on our SWG archive during November. Our Around the World and Web section helps you keep up to date with what is happening within the wider fandom world, as it brings you a selection of recent articles of interest, fandom events, and calls for papers.
As always, the SWG newsletter is created through the combined efforts of a team of volunteers. Join me in thanking Dawn, Silver Trails, Elleth and Angelica for writing and compiling our newsletter content this month.
