The Silmarillion is one of the saddest books, all doom and gloom and everybody dies after suffering horrific fates. True? Well, yes but that's not the only possible interpretation. At the SWG we have a special section: Funnies where comics are collected that show that just because the Silmarillion is relentlessly tragic doesn't mean we can't find something to laugh about.
Between 2009 and 2012, pandemonium_213 gave us snapshots of the life of Gothmog and Draugluin , who are not all about smiting and devouring but had fun, too. Little Gothmog lives in Thangorodrim with his mom (Ulbandi Fluithuin) and dad (Melkor, Black Foe of the World). Melkor’s right-hand man and Gothmog’s babysitter -- Professor Thû ("I'm not a babysitter. I'm an observer!") -- makes appearances, too. Here you can find the Angband perspective on Feanor's death , Maedhros's rescue , Morgoth's family life , video games , and a lot more.
Whitewave injected colorful cuteness into The Silmarillion in her Chibi of the Month where Finrod, Nimloth, Caranthir, Glorfindel and Miriel received the star treatment.
