Admin Post: March 2019 Challenge: Hidden Figures
Mar. 14th, 2019 08:10 pm
For our March challenge, we will focus on rare characters and textual ghosts. Rare characters, for the purpose of our challenge, are defined as any character with fewer than five fanworks on the SWG archive as of the start of the challenge. (See the list below. Please note that major characters from The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are not included, even if they have fewer than five fanworks.) In addition, any character who is unnamed counts as rare, as does any textual ghost (a character who must have existed but is not mentioned in the texts. Elleth's Textual Ghosts Project provides more than six hundred known textual ghosts.)
Naturally, you are welcome to combine this challenge with your B2MeM Bingo prompts, if you’re playing, or the prompts from Fëanorian Week!
Fanworks for this month's challenge must feature a rare character or textual ghost in a leading role. Fanworks are due by April 10 in order to receive a stamp. Late fanworks are always welcome but do not receive stamps.
Thank you to Narya for suggesting this month's challenge!
Rare Characters
Rare characters have fewer than five fanworks on the SWG archive. In addition, any unnamed or textual ghost character automatically counts as rare for this challenge.

*These characters currently have no fanworks on the SWG archive. Why not be the first??

Date: 2019-03-15 01:25 am (UTC)(I hear ya. Creative writing? What is that?? It's bad enough that the little example stories I write in school to demonstrate various narrative strategies have become a real pleasure for me.)

Date: 2019-03-15 02:12 am (UTC)Thank you to Narya for the suggestion.
This made me realize that apparently I haven't uploaded an older ficlet of mine featuring Hareth to the Archive. That is, I would probably have tagged her, if I had, even though it's an ensemble piece.
Not that Hareth couldn't use more love!
(I had uploaded that ficlet to MPTT, because it was a challenge piece. That archive seems to be down just now?)

Date: 2019-03-15 02:18 am (UTC)Silver Trails emailed me earlier tonight about MPTT. I no longer work there and so can't speak to what might be happening with the archive, but I cc'ed the MPTT mod email, so hopefully when I answered Silver Trails, so hopefully someone there can get it figured out.

Date: 2019-03-15 02:29 am (UTC)That sounds as if the trouble is recent, then.
I was afraid I might have missed something that had been ongoing for longer.
