Below the cut are draft submission guidelines for the SWG's tumblr satellite. These are based on the feedback and discussion on the posts about our Tumblr satellite so far. Some of the language is adapted from existing SWG guidelines. Thanks again to everyone who has provided input and feedback!

In general, the prevailing attitude was that "less is more" at this point. We can certainly add additional items that we will accept on the tumblr at a later date, if we wish to do so. It is always easier--and preferable!--to expand rather than to take away, in my experience.

The question of "asks" still remains open. However, as this is shaping up to be a rather complex issue with many possible solutions proposed, so I'd like to get our tumblr set up, and we can discuss asks and add this at a later date, if we wish to do so.

All feedback is welcome, from broad concerns over policies to nitpicks over wording--and of course typo fixes! :) Thanks again, everyone.

Thank you to everyone who has participated in the discussions thus far about our Tumblr satellite. To recap, here are the posts so far:

I want to begin by saying that, going forward, I will be presenting certain issues as settled when a strong majority of discussion participants have reached an agreement. However, if you have a concern with the decision as it stands, please bring it up. We can reopen discussion on that issue.

[Those who initially expressed interest in helping set up a tumblr for the SWG have agreed to hold the discussion here on LJ. Anyone is welcome to participate, whether you are part of the group that said you'd help out or not.]

What to Allow on Our tumblr?? )

ETA: There has been a lot of productive discussion on this post. Thank you all. I will be holding off on posting the next discussion topic until the beginning of next week, since many people use the weekends to catch up on stuff like this. I am still very much interested in hearing the opinions of our members on the questions above. (Many of the comments are discussions on comments; keep in mind that relatively few people have actually responded! :) Nor are you obligated to wade through 70+ comments in order to participate. I'm interested in hearing thoughts on the questions above, even if you don't have time to review what's already been said.

The SWG moderators have recently been discussing the possibility of setting up a "satellite group" on Tumblr. Like our current satellite groups on LiveJournal, Dreamwidth, and Yahoo! Groups, this group would be run under the SWG guidelines as a space for the Silmarillion fandom.

The problem is that none of the SWG moderators have much experience with Tumblr! While we all have accounts there, none of us are heavy users of the site and so feel woefully unprepared to make the best decisions in getting the group set up.

We are seeking volunteers to discuss setting up a Tumblr satellite group for the SWG. No particular experience is necessary--just a willingness to help us iron our the particulars and probably answer the occasional silly question! :) We will also eventually be seeking moderators for the Tumblr group and will give strong preference to those who have helped to get the group set up.

If you're interested in helping out with this, please comment on this post with your email address, as well as your preference for how we hold the discussion (email, LiveJournal, Yahoo! mailing list, etc.). If there is a particular venue where you will not participate in discussion, please let us know that as well. All comments are screened and we will not unscreen any comment with personal information in it. You may also email us at moderator@silmarillionwritersguild.org, if you prefer.
