In the forests of Ossiriand, the Children of Ilúvatar--Elves and Men--finally meet.

Now men awoke and listened to Felagund as he harped and sang, and each thought that he was in some fair dream, until he saw that his fellows were awake also beside him; but they did not speak or stir while Felagund still played, because of the beauty of the music and the wonder of the song. Wisdom was in the words of the Elven-king, and the hearts grew wiser that hearkened to him; for the things of which he sang, of the making of Arda, and the bliss of Aman beyond the shadows of the Sea, came as clear visions before their eyes, and his Elvish speech was interpreted in each mind according to its measure.

*shameless fangirl moment* :D

Would have been funny if Finrod was actually singing some baudy drinking song or one of those nasty sorts of songs kids learn at recess these days or something, and everyone just refused to believe it was about anything but Aman and the making of Arda...

LOL!

Then in that vein, you do have to wonder about the exact nature of his singing duel with Sauron...

BWAHAHAHA! Now I'm stuck with this image of Finrod being defeated by Sauron singing (and performing) the Macarena... or else the duel of songs taking place on an American Idol type stage...

Estel, by Nerdanel (http://www.henneth-annun.net/stories/chapter.cfm?stid=3963) - tackles this meeting and some bits after:
"Finrod and Balan (Bëor) work together to help stop a pneumonia epidemic in the Bëorings camp, and have conversations meanwhile about the similarities and differences between the Eldar and Atani."

It's pretty good!

Klose and Pulsarkat! You should both be really ashamed of yourselves. I know what kind of writers you've been hanging around with Klose, so it doesn't suprise me that you take a moment like this and turn it around in such a disrespectful way, but I have no idea whence comes Pulsarkat's inspiration. All of this and the horrible sleety drizzle here make me what to just go back to bed. (And, my two cents worth--I think Finrod in that scary frame of mind would be more than a match for anyone!)

Hey, Finrod's separated from his parents and beloved by a huge ocean and field of ice and has four younger siblings to look after in Middle-earth--he's allowed to have some fun once in a while! ;D

And Sauron is just nasty! If he can forge the One Ring, he can beat people with the Macarena! THE ONE DANCE SONG TO DRIVE THEM ALL MAD.

*kicks this obnoxious nor'easter*

All right. Of course you are right. But remember that one "Who Let the Dogs Out?" I could make my Finrod use that. That would put Sauron or any other baddie in a very awkward position.

Ow. Snorting water up my nose when I laugh hurts!

If Finrod had tried "Staying Alive" and attacking Sauron with his awesome Disco moves, he might have won in the end...

Heartofoshun, please please please where is the gorgeous picture in your icon from? I've seen it in other icons but never complete and I'd really love to enjoy the whole thing in a regular size. Thank you

It is the incomparable Kasiopea! Cutting, coloring, pasting and labeling is all my sacrilegious mutilation of her wonderful piece. Enjoy the site she has lots more wonderful elves.

Yes, she's great. Is your other icon (Maedrhos in white, carrying something in his hand which I cannot make out, a sword?) also by Kasiopea?

Do you mean this icon? I will have to find out whose work this one is. I am not sure, but I had decided anyway that I should know at least whose work I am stealing. So I will find out for you. It is a sword he is holding.

Yes, that's it.Thanks a million. I had seen it in another icon (Dawn's, I think) but was never able to enjoy the picture in a bigger size (I think I'll need to have my glasses checked sooner than planned).
