Next month will bring the seventh day of the seventh month of the year '07 ... is it any surprise that this has gotten some of us thinking of Fëanor and his seven sons?
Few are the characters in The Silmarillion that have inspired such a vast and diverse wealth of creative material as the Fëanorians. Next month, we'd like to honor that on SWG, and one of the ways we hope to do so is by illustrating each character's personal history with our own creative work.
We are putting together a compilation of short fiction, poetry, artwork, and excerpts of longer works about each character in the House of Fëanor. SWG is home to many talented writers and artists, and we hope that you'll help us with this project!
Full details on the Seven in '07 project are available on our website. As usual, questions may be directed to our moderators at moderator@silmarillionwritersguild.org or leave a comment on this post.

I have one.
*blush*
Silmarillion.
:^D
I hope that you find a moment for it! If not, then I know of a Maglor with wee Findekano that would look just beautiful for the project ... ;)
Just to note that only half of my life is Silmarillion. The other half is moving ... I like the Silm-half better!

Date: 2007-06-15 01:18 am (UTC)Be sure to move your moving-half to where your Silm-half lives! That should lead to a happy union.

Date: 2007-06-14 10:04 am (UTC)This is a ridiculously excited Elleth, really... and as I'm already working on a photomanip compilation of Silmarillion characters and scenes, your idea does come in handy! I only skimmed the website, so I don't know if there are any special rules for artwork submission, but maybe some of this sort (http://ladyelleth.deviantart.com/gallery/) will do? No Feanorian pieces yet (except for one, but that's about the parents), but those that are in the works will probably go in the same direction. :D Is that okay?

Date: 2007-06-14 12:32 pm (UTC)What a complementary pieces to my own march (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/55345642/) towards that window... You're waking dangerous memories, be careful and move out of our way.

Date: 2007-06-14 05:25 pm (UTC)... WOW. You did a great job on that painting, and Maedhros definitely does look dangerous. I think Elwing just gave an 'eep' and jumped again, and somewhere in the back of my head Nerdanel is being very upset with her sons for setting fire to yet something else.

Date: 2007-06-14 10:38 pm (UTC)Thank you very much for the feedback - and to be honest, I didn't know myself. I've been working with that program for almost 7 (hah, there it is again!) years now, but photomanipulation is almost completely new terrain to me. If you want any tips, though, feel free to ask, or drop me a mail! (And then there's the Nerdanel essay commentary I meant to get back to you about... argh.)

Date: 2007-06-15 01:47 am (UTC)One thing I can do in Photoshop is resize images. I guess I just didn't consider people doing this for me. :^/
Re: Technical question
Date: 2007-06-15 01:59 am (UTC)On the other hand sometimes it's better to get too large image and resize t to a desired size and quality than get poorly resized image if someone has got only a scan, but no graphic software to save it for web properly.
*sorry for the double, I posted it in the other thread*
Re: Technical question
Date: 2007-06-15 02:13 am (UTC)Usually on art boards images should not exclude 700pixelsin width (I would also say in height), for wider pieces stretch the boards and reading is not comfortable. Also still the most of people use 800x600 or maybe now 1024x728 screen resolutions. Yet it is nice to look a character into a face if an image is larger.
CoE has got a rule that a an image for their gallery can't be larger than 700 pixels in any dimension. I guess that would be the standard till all of us buy ''21screens and use very high resolutions ;)
But as I said you can decide of it depending on the script you use and place you've got for pictures on server. If the images will be smaller on SWG viewer can always surf to artists gallery and see the full view there.
