Well, I did it, I wrote something. Not a massive achievement in and of itself, but given my lack of nerve/ability to write recently, it is for me.

This is a simple tale based on my reading a couple of people's advent challenges whereby ficlets are posted each day up to Christmas. I thought it was a lovely idea and an excellent opportunity to write something, a little at a time, without getting overwhelmed by it. Can't guarantee it'll be every day, but the plan is to write this in small chapters up to Christmas and have it finished by then. This is one story rather than a series of ficlets, just in itty bitty installments. I'm just letting it take its course, although I have an ending in mind. Muses being what they are, however, it might not be the ending that eventually gets written!

It features, of course, my beloved Maedhros and Fingon and also Maglor, as well as sundry others, possibly. Dunno, am just seeing where this takes me and having fun with it. Call it my gift to all those who I can't afford a pressie for this year.

It was also inspired by the December challenge:
"How did a character first discover his talent for music? Learn to play the harp? What important events in her life--weddings, festivals, first meetings, et cetera--were accompanied by music?"
and is cross-posted in my LJ.

Title:
Once Upon A Winter's Gift

Author: Mirien
Summary: Maedhros and Fingon at last are reborn and planning to marry (marry, I like marry), but Maedhros feels the absence of the brother he lost so very long ago.
Rating: Will vary, this chapter, G.
Warnings: Slash. Two male Elves in love. Also possibly mushiness and some angst.
Author's note: Advent story, sort of, to be posted in installments up to Christmas. Oh AND, I can't get the little accents on the Elvish names on this computer, hence Fingon's and Maglor's names lack their proper little doofreys over the a's.
Disclaimer: Not mine, unfortunately. I tried to play nice.

One more thing. Been a while since I posted anything, so while constructive criticism is fine, please be gentle!

I've had a chance to edit this while lurking under my rock. It was meant to be a 1000 word thing. Yeah, right. I blame [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] for this entirely when she said, "I'd really like to read about..." *cough*

Title: The Journey Back (I ran out of imagination when it came to the title)
Author: Mirien
Pairing: Maedhros/Fingon
Rating: NC-17 (for graphic amputation and injury)
Disclaimer: If you're brave (or bored) enough...
Summary: Maedhros wants to die, Fingon won't let him.
Author notes: Not beta'd (yet) so any mistakes are my own.

This is actually for [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]'s VERY belated birthday present (who made me go all mushy because she liked it!) and is cross-posted from my LJ.

I never do this. I never write fluff. But something [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]'s Maedhros muse said the other day made me want to. So, this is for the elf who always gets (I did look for the quote and now I can't find it, so I'll try to remember), "blood, battles and THAT ROCK".

If you can't stand the thought of Maedhros as a kid, don't read. Hmm, and I mostly avoided the angst *looks witheringly at Fëanor, who ignores her* Seems I can't write anything without just a little angst, even fluff.

This is part one. It was supposed to be a single chapter thing but alas my muses get away from me all the time and this is no exception. Plus it's a story of two halves. Sort of. Part two will be a bit more adult, well alright, a lot more adult. It's not beta'd, so any mistakes are mine.

Cross-posted to my LJ, apologies to my flist.

Alright, here it is.

Title: When First I Loved You (what?? This is *fluff*!)
Author: Mirien
Pairing: None yet, though future Maedhros/Fingon
Rating: G, this chapter.
Disclaimer: They aren't mine, they just hang around my life. I try to get them to play nice.
Author's note: Although Miriel did not die in childbirth but after, I think it’s reasonable to think she would be in the minds of any of the males of the House of Finwë, whenever one of their wives is giving birth.
Also, without wishing to reopen the Elven eye colour debate, I gave Fingon blue-grey eyes arbitrarily. So there *grins*

When First I Loved You - Part One )

Alright, I'm asking for people's theories on this. I have an idea for a fic, but I need their relative ages and after scouring all the sources I know, I still can't pin it down. I have my own theory, but I'm curious as to what other people think. I'm also too impatient to start comparing their parents' marriage dates and speculating. So, anyone got any ideas?
[identity profile] mirien.livejournal.com
Ouch. These are two drabbles (which I admit I have mixed feelings about, at least when I'm writing them myself!) because they are all I had time for today, (yesterday, now!) I was too lazy to write any of my longer stuff and I needed to write. It got all a bit weird on me though, Maglor appears to be going through a bitter stage! The first is Maedhros after Thangorodrim, the second one sort of answers the 'What would Maglor have done?' challenge at the Silmarillion Writers Guild, or rather, it's Maglor speaking just after Maedhros dies, and so maybe it doesn't.

It's grim and it made me want to kick the pair of them. Hard. What is it with Fëanorians anyway, or is it just mine? Either way, it's so damned angsty it made my teeth ache *mutters*

Warning for a very oblique reference to a M/M relationship.

I thought I had posted this to the community LJ, not my own - oops!

*sigh* I was not intending to bite on this one, but two Fêanorians had
other ideas. This is my response to the question, it's a bit rough,
but I'm posting it before I change my mind!

Maglor: Why didn't you rescue Maedhros; why did the poor chap have
to wait for cousin Fingon to go get him?

Title: You Will Stay
Author: Mirien
Rating: General
Warnings: Reference to Maedhros/Fingon relationship.
Summary: Maedhros decides he will feign treating with Morgoth, Maglor
has misgivings.
